The Appalachian, Bartram and many shorter trails - the Rufus Morgan, Cliffside Lake, Albert Mountain, Standing Indian, including Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest are all “day trip” activities from your Arrowhead Point home. In every season, these are some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world with vistas overlooking valleys, lakes, streams,and waterfalls.

While exploring your surroundings from Arrowhead Point on Lake Nantahala, you may happen upon one of numerous waterfalls carved through eons of God’s boundless creation.

These falls are to be found along the multitude of streams, sheltering miles of available trout waters, filling the high country lakes - Lake Nantahala, Fontana Lake, Lake Santeetla, Lake Chatuge, Hiwassee Lake, Calder Wood Lake, Ocoee Lake.

Beautiful Vistas and Scenic Drives

If you’re up to enjoying a drive, the scenic byways of these mountains are without comparison. Residents at Arrowhead Point will be privileged to experience the countless soul-warming Appalachian vistas found along the Blue Ridge Parkway and Cherohala Skyway. Mount Mitchell and Clingman’s Dome, the highest points in western North Carolina are within a daytrip’s drive as are visits to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, or Asheville’s magnificent Biltmore Estate and her Grove Park Inn Resort/Spa.

Closer to home, enjoy 16 miles of the USFS Road #711; 4 miles to Wayah Bald; or 12 miles of the Cullasaja Gorge up US 64 to Highlands (designated a Mountain Waters Scenic Byway by the US Forest Service).Courtesy dictates you pull over or safely give way to those travelling at a faster pace.

Premiere Venues in the Mountains

Thanks to Sharon and Phil Drake for Franklins' newest and most prestigeous addition to the Western North Carolina mountains - The Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts. A 1500 seat state-of-the-art theater hosting live performances of all tastes, including comedy, children's, country, Contemporary Christian, gospel, folk music, choral festivals, bluegrass, dance, professional drama troupes, second-run movies, theater workshops and training programs. Local Food

Come evening time, dine at home on freshly harvested veggies and fruits purchased from local truck farms bordering mountain streams or gather for fine cuisine at “chef prepared” dining in surrounding towns. Drive to the Dillard House for old-fashioned family dining just a few miles away, maybe even Balsam Mountain Inn for a weekend lunch, or cafeteria style at Cherokee’s Harrah’s Casino. Gastronomic delights await you wherever your palate leads!
