Recreation in Western North Carolina

Explore our world in the mountains

Living the outdoor life is a favorite pastime at Arrowhead Point. From relaxing strolls beside the placid waters of Lake Nantahala, to the day hikes at elevations up to 5,499 feet, you’ll find the cool coves and ridges of the Nantahalas drawing you to explore.

Horse Backing

There are innumerable trails throughout the area. A favorite, for overnight camping, is available at the US Forest Service Wine Springs Horse Camp on its #711 Road high in the Wine Springs Basin - reservations required.

Cycling

For the bicyclist, mountain-bike trails with unsurpassed beauty offer varying degrees of challenge. Tsali for mountain biking or try the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway for road biking. For a safe ride, be alert to "giving way" to faster paced motorists.
